EFOG EBCOG: Exam Day Preparation
About EFOG EBCOG
The European Fellowship of Obstetrics and Gynaecology (EFOG EBCOG) is a prestigious credential offered by the European Board and College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology (EBCOG). This fellowship is highly esteemed in the medical community and represents a mark of excellence in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology.
As the official authority on obstetrics and gynaecology in Europe, EBCOG sets the professional standards for clinicians practicing in these specialties across European countries.
Syllabus for the EFOG EBCOG Exam
The EFOG EBCOG is intended for doctors who have completed their national training programs and are qualified specialists in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Training durations may differ across European countries, so candidates should refer to the EBCOG website for the latest curriculum details, including the 2018 EBCOG Basic Training Curriculum (PACT — approved by UEMS).
Candidates should have a comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of obstetrics and gynaecology. While EBCOG does not endorse specific textbooks, a variety of study materials are available both in print and online. Familiarity with evidence-based international guidelines in obstetrics and gynaecology is also essential. For EFOG EBCOG Part 1 preparation, internationally recommended textbooks can be consulted.
EBCOG Preparation Courses
Attendance at EBCOG Preparation Courses is not mandatory but may be beneficial. These courses are offered well in advance of the exam and are designed to assist with exam preparation. The fee for these courses is separate from the examination fee.
Two types of Pre-Examination Preparatory courses are available:
For the KBA Examination (Part 1)
For the OSCE Examination (Part 2)
These courses provide practice with various KBA questions and OSCE stations in a simulated exam environment.
Applying for Pre-Exam Courses
Details and application forms for pre-exam courses are available on the EBCOG website: www.ebcog.org. Applications should be submitted online.
Guidance for the Examination
Regulations for Part 1 (KBA)
Part 1 consists of two computer-based papers, which will be administered online.
Before the Exam
Candidates will receive a test exam approximately a week before the actual exam. It is recommended to complete this test exam to familiarize yourself with the format. All necessary instructions will be sent via email.
Candidates will also be provided with a link to a demonstrator model, allowing them to test their computer’s compatibility with the exam requirements. Note that tablets are not permitted during the exam. This demo will help candidates practice starting the exam, submitting answers, and exiting the exam paper.
Candidates will encounter three types of questions: MCQs, EMQs, and SBAs. The exam timetable will be posted on the EBCOG website four weeks prior to the EFOG examination.
