The MCI screening test, also known as the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE), is a national exam. Twice a year, in June and December, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) administers the exam.

Candidates who are Indian citizens or Indian citizens living abroad and who have received a medical degree from a foreign college or university must pass this licencing exam. To obtain a Provisional or Permanent registration with the Medical Council of India (MCI), one must pass this exam.

FMGE Exam Pattern

The FMGE is a two-paper computer-based test. It is recommended to attempt the first paper in the morning session and the second in the afternoon. Each exam session lasts for two hours and forty-five minutes. This covers the tutorial’s fifteen minutes. English is the language utilised in the exam.

There are 300 questions on the test. Each paper has 150 questions in total. Each paper’s exam lasts for 150 minutes. There is no negative grading and the MCQ weighting will change.

Eligibility Criteria For FMGE

The eligibility criteria For FMGE of a candidate must be a citizen of India or an Indian citizen living abroad. To be eligible for enrolling as a medical practitioner in the nation where the institution that awards the aforementioned certification is located, candidates must have a primary medical qualification that has been verified by the Indian Embassy. The candidate must provide documentation proving they passed the primary medical qualification before the deadline.
