FMGE - National Board of Examinations

 The Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) is conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in India. It is a licensure examination that assesses the medical knowledge and skills of Indian citizens or Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs) who have obtained a medical degree from a foreign university and wish to practice medicine in India.


The FMGE is held twice a year and comprises two parts, each consisting of 150 multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The FMGE Course examination is based on the curriculum taught in Indian medical schools and assesses candidates’ understanding of the medical concepts and practices relevant to the Indian healthcare system.

Passing the FMGE is a mandatory requirement for foreign medical graduates to obtain a license to practice medicine in India. As such, the examination plays a crucial role in ensuring that foreign medical graduates meet the necessary standards set by the Medical Council of India (MCI) for practicing medicine in the country.
